As outrageous as this may seem, never drink essential oils. It’s an obvious duh, I know. But hear me out.
There’s this common misunderstanding that these are safe and organic making it safe to drink. No, guys and gals, please don’t. If I’m going to tell the truth here, I was once – still am – curious on how it tastes like.

In Haddad and Winchester’s Clinical management of Poisoning and Drug Overdose, 4th ed., Chapter 101, “Essential Oils”, it discussed how severe the matter actually is. There have been recorded deaths on this subject, too.
In the book, it’s been stated that there’s an adult who died because of an essential oil overdose – it was only 4mL eucalyptus oil!
On my end, I’m quite curious as to why he did that. Unfortunately, it didn’t say. Eh, I guess it’s true: Curiosity did kill the cat.
However, the essential oil horror story doesn’t end there. Here’s another case, an 8-month old baby apparently drank a 30mL essential oil that led to the baby having seizures and death.
Okay, don’t expect an explanation as to why these brutal scenarios happened. I don’t know the answer. If you love kids, I know this is a hard pill to swallow – and no, I don’t know who the parents of the baby are.
But what I do know, these aren’t assumptions. These are real information that’s been documented by actual oil facilities.
There’s actually more cases like these! It does not immediately promote death. In the same study, there was a consumption of Cinnamon Oil at 2.5mL, and the results aren’t beautiful.
This has caused rectal burning and dizziness in a 7-year old. He also experienced gastrointestinal symptoms and lethargy.
American Association of Poison Control Centers published a report that in the year 2010, there was a recorded 10,000 cases of essential oil poisoning. And a whopping 80% of that are kids 5 years old and below.
When used properly, oils are amazing! If you have kids – or know kids – who have ADHD, then you can let the wonders of essential oils work for you.
You should teach their parents on how to use them first though. And I want to put a disclaimer, they don’t cure ADHD. They only help in keeping people who suffer from ADHD stay calm allowing focus to enter in to their lives.

However, I still advice parents to proceed with caution. There hasn’t been an official research on this.
